Fathers

Well Fathers Day was last Sunday and I am just writing about it. Can you tell I'm on top of things...ya I'm good.

However I have been thinking about all the Fathers in my life lately. First I have my Dad,
We are very goofy together. Growing up, we always got along. We have our own inside jokes and our own games that we have been playing for years. Road trips were always the best when its just the two of us.
When he would "try" to be stern with me, I would just make a joke and he would start laughing (it was a great trick if I ever got in trouble). My dad has always worked so hard for me and my family.
I love my dad so much. He still calls me to make sure I'm happy when he knows I am. He would do anything for me.
It reminds me of when we met my parents in Vegas about a month ago. Dad, Tanner and I went to see Iron Man (mom wanted to stay at the hotel with Ava). While I was sitting in the theater between my dad and my husband I got the safest most calm feeling. "I am with the two men who love me most in this world. I could never be safer than sitting with them." I loved that feeling.
I'm so grateful that my dad LOVED Tanner when they first met. They both went to Brazil on their missions (they served in the same areas has well). They both are HUGE Raider fans. They both love the same kind of sandwiches and my dad loves that Tanner is Tall and athletic. I love and miss my Dad so much. He is a wonderful father.

Next we have Tanners dad Pat.

He is a wonderful father in-law. I don't like saying in-law, it sounds so not loving. The moore I am with Pat the moore I become comfortable with him as a dad. Pat is a wonderful example to us. He is always giving us advice on how to become better each day. I have never met anyone who has a stronger testimony of the Book of Mormon than him. He sets goals to finish it every 20 days and he does. He doesn't do this to boast about how many times he has read it. He does it because he learns something new each time. He then councils it with his family and gives new teachings as a patriarch of the family is suppose to do. He has given us all the challenge not to miss reading the Book of Mormon every day. Tanner and I have now taken this challenge seriously and have not missed a day. Even if its one verse or one chapter we will have the spirit and teachings each day. Pat also encourages us to go to the temple. He once told Tanner the only gift he wants is us going to the temple.
Pat is such an amazing example on what a husband and father should be. I couldn't have asked for a better role model for Tanner. I'm so grateful for Pat and all that he does for us.

Last but definitely not least is my father in heaven. I can't write this without tearing up. He has given me so much when at times I know I don't deserve it. I have a wonderful life with an amazing husband and a beautiful daughter. He has given me all the people in my life to teach me to become a better person. At times I find myself not showing enough gratitude as I should. I need to try harder each day so I can live with him again. He not only blesses me each day but he gave me his son Christ. That's how much he loves all of us. He gave us Christ so we can repent of all of our wrong doings and strive to live with him again. At times I think about our future children and how they are with him right now. How amazing it is that he is watching over and protecting us.

I am very lucky of all the fathers in my life.

Ava is 1 year old!

The decorations!

Gotta love Costco

The cake that took Ava a while to dig into

Opening her presents. Lots of books

and clothes

that she can't get enough of apparently

We had a blast with Tanners parents. They stayed for the whole weekend and we did LOTS of stuff. Us girls went to the parade of homes while the boys stayed home to play wii (Pat ended up buying one for himself he liked it so much.) We did some shopping and Dyanna took us girls to lunch while the boys golfed. Later Pat took us to a Brazilian BBQ for Tanner and Logan's Birthday (not for another month but they wont see the boys then.) It was fun to see the Grandparents with Ava.

That would be Ava ready and waiting for the head bump that Pat is going to give her :)
